THE GOLDEN RULE REVISITED

by William T. Schor

May each and every environmentalist who places insect and animal rights above human and property rights experience the following:

The full pinch of the added tax burden put upon all other citizens funding the wild ideas of environmentalists;
and,

Having termites added to the endangered species list only to find swarms as their bed partners;
and,

Spend a substantial part of their savings on engineering and legal fees for a dream addition to their home only to find that the wetlands buffer restricts the construction of same;
and,

Learn that the "Swamp Pink" plant that they used as an endangered species to prevent the development of private lands not only grows abundantly in their backyards, but is also a favorite food of the common skunk;
and,

Have their grandmother's farm declared a wetlands just before they inherit it;
and,

Acquire real estate for retirement which later is rendered worthless due to wetlands;
and,

Learn to count as high as the dollars expended nationally for the compliance with costly but unnecessary regulations such as the re-routing of a highway out of wetlands through other high cost real estate that must be acquired at great expense;
and,

Then learn to count even higher and be able to recognize that they too are paying for the cost of the time delays caused by applications for permits needed to comply with environmental regulations;
and,

Recognize that they are signifcantly contributing to national inflation which ultimately translates into consumers paying more for added expenses of building roads and all other development;
and

Inherit a pristine parcel of land only to learn that it is landlocked by more than 200' of wetlands buffers making access imposible;
and,

Seek help that is freely given by those of us that favor property rights , the unfettered use of real estate, the curtailment of overly restrictive zoning and planning boards, a clean country with everyone pitching in to keep it clean, fair payment for the taking of lands and a certain sanctity about GOD and his plan for humans, animals, insects, plants, land, clean air and water and not "Mother Earth" that is being portrayed on TV, in movies, cartoons, and text books to seed the minds of our youth.
